SUMMARY:KAOKOLAND WILD - (July 15-24)
DESCRIPTION:ARE YOU READY FOR OUR TOUGHEST ADVENTURE TOUR? \n  \nKaokoland \, the northwest of Namibia is not considered ‘Africa’s last unspoiled wilderness’ for no reason. \nOur regular Wildwood Kaokoland Odyssey tour is already a challenging 11 day motorcycle adventure. but this one is strictly for very experienced adventurers. Aimed at the single cylinder adventure machines we’ve included some truly remote and lesser known tracks.  Rocky gorges like Robbie’s Pass\, Van Zyl’s Pass (west to east) and Heartbreak Hill will test your test your rock riding skills. The river beds of the Hoanib\, Hoarusib and Huab rivers include hundreds of kilometers of deep sand tracks. Every day of the tour is different with constantly changing terrain and topography. \nKaokoland is like a giant unfenced nature reserve\, so  expect to see herds of free roaming antelope \, desert elephants and other wild life on the trails and even in the unfenced overnight camps. In places like Puros it’s common to have giraffe and elephants in and around our camps at night. \nThe Himba tribe\, the nomads of the north live simply as they have done for centuries in this rugged outback with their herds of goats and cattle. Their serenity is infectious and one can’t but feel enriched by your interactions with them. \n\nThe tour is 10 days\, starting and ending in Windhoek\, capital of Namibia.\n3 nights in guest houses and 8 camping (tents & mattresses supplied but you’ll need a sleeping bag)\nSupport 4×4 vehicle and trailer carry all our gear\, fuel and supplies\nwe supply daily breakfast\, roadside lunches and dinner on 4 nights (remaining dinners in lodge/camp restaurants)\nSatellite coms with both the lead bike and support crew.\nSmall exclusive groups of max 6 riders\nThe group stays together with the lead rider at all times.\n\n  \nThis is a challenging ride but not an enduro event. The plan is to push boundaries occasionally as an adventure tourer and then in the evening relax under incredible Namibian starry sky enjoying an ice cold beer and traditional barbecue . And yes the gradient of the climb just ridden and depth of the sand are always higher and deeper around a crackling camp fire in a remote bush camp. \n  \nIf the Kaokoland Wild looks a little daunting watch this space for our next regular Kaokoland Odyssey Tour. Same beauty \, some challenging tracks but without the nasty bits. \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Cape Town to Windhoek ( April 26 - May 04\, 2020)
DESCRIPTION:Bushman cave art – Cederberg (Western Cape – South Africa) \nFish River Canyon\, Ai Ais\, Namibia \nOryx\, Namib Naukluft National Park\, Namibia \n Cape Town to Windhoek (Namibia) \nJoin us on this epic journey from Cape Town at the southern tip of Africa to Windhoek Namibia. \nYour adventure begins at the foot of the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town\, voted the worlds most beautiful city for the seventh straight year in 2019. Each day a new changing landscape\, from the lush coastal Winelands of the Cape to the stark deserts of Southern Namibia. \nThis tour includes two of the worlds greatest and most famed attractions\, Fish River Canyon and Sosusvlei. Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon on the planet\, and although smaller than Grand Canyon at 100 miles long is a marvel not to missed. At Sosusvlei you’ll find the giant red dunes\, one of the worlds most photographed natural attractions as well as the Dead Vlei  and the renowned salt pans. The tour sets aside an entire day to visit these two marvels along with the nearby Sesriem Canyon. \nWe’ll ride tracks through the iron oxided red sandstone mountains of the Cederberg\, the rugged canyons of the Richtersveld Transfrontier Park and the deserts of the Namib Nakluft National Park. A rest day in the old German coastal Town of Swakopmund with its fine restaurants \, waterfront and classic period German architecture gives time to recharge before heading up to Windhoek through the Khomas Hochland / Gamsberg Mountains. \nAlthough this tour takes us through some of the most rugged and remote territory in Southern Africa the tracks we’ve chosen won’t require crazy enduro levels of biking skills. You would need to be comfortable on gravel roads with the possibility of some sandy and rocky tracks along the way. Conditions constantly change due to extreme weather and road maintenance is sporadic which turns every tour into an adventure\, even for your seasoned guide. \nA four wheel drive support vehicle and trailer will accompany the tour on the entire route\, carrying all our gear and providing cold refreshments and snacks along the way. They carry all your gear\, fuel in remote zones and provide backup support like puncture repair and first aid. \nWe hope you’ll join WildWood on this epic journey through some of the most beautiful landscapes to be found anywhere in the world. The riding although challenging is recommended for the average skilled tourer.  Our rental fleet of KTM690R and Husqvarna 701 bikes are ideally suited to the terrain\, providing a great balance between comfort and ability to conquer the tougher tracks. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Kaokoland Odyssey - Northern Namibia
DESCRIPTION:  \nKaokoland. The last unspoiled paradise in Africa and the no.1 adventure riding destination in the world. \nWe meet in Windhoek\, Capital of Namibia\, collect our motorcycles and prepare for the next morning tour start. The ten day  circular journey takes us north west\, up to and along the Kunene River before returning to Windhoek via Swakopmund. Highlights include visits to Epupa Falls\, Marienfluss Valley\, Camp Syncro\, Van Zyls Pass\, Purros Canyons\, Marble Camp and Brandberg Mountain to name a few. Expect to find herds of free range game \, giraffe\, and elephant sharing  the tracks we ride and even the possibility of lions. We’ll meet the nomadic indigenous Himba people\, the women famed for the ochre mud covering they paste onto their bodies and their unique hair plaits. The riding is engaging and varies from steep rocky passes\, sandy two tracks \, wide open desert plains and more\, sometimes all in one day. There is a genuine feeling of warmth towards travellers in  Northern Namibia and virtually no crime. Kaokoland really is the last unspoiled paradise in Africa. \nTour package includes  all fuel\, back-up vehicle\, 2 x nights accommodation in Windhoek\, 2 x nights accommodation in Swakopmund\,  7 days bed & breakfast in the wilderness + selected meals (in remote areas without available lodges)\, basic bike spares\, satellite phone\,  and experienced rider guide. The 7 wilderness nights on tour are camping with tents and mattresses included. Four of these nights can be upgraded to chalets on request. \n \n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMiles McVicar reviewed Wildwood Motorcycle Tours . South Africa – 5 star\n29 October at 02:22 · \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI was fortunate enough to be one of a group of kiwi riders to ride the Kaokoland Odessey in Northern Namibia. It was the best thing I have ever done\, and I have riden and raced dirt bikes for 40yrs. To go to places I have only ever seen the likes of in National Geographic publications\, was a real privilege. The people were friendly\, the wildlife was fantastic\, and so much better because they lived in the wild and not in a park. The camp sites and lodges were amazing! The bikes were in new condition and great fun to ride. Being able to ride in this wonderful country without the restrictions of carrying all the usual necessities associated with camping and the like\, was an added bonus. John was a great guide\, he was a skilled rider\, knew how to handle people in authority\, and had a decent knowledge of the land and its inhabitants. I’ll never forget my time in Namibia.\nIf you have ever contemplated riding the Kaokoland Odyssey…….do it now! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWildwood Motorcycle Tours .
