The Hopper tour takes in much of the Baviaanskloof tour route but is aimed at the less experienced rider or riders with only a week in their schedule.
The route is a seven day journey taking you from the Winelands of the Cape on a circular route that heads out through the rugged Little Karoo and returns to Cape Town via the lush Garden Route and coastal belt.
Our Hopper Tour (named after our Aussie guest for whom the tour was designed) includes highlight roads like Franschhoek Pass, Seweweekspoort, Swartbberg Pass, Prince Albert Pass and Meiringspoort. We visited the towns of Montagu, Calitzdorp, Prince Albert, Knysna, Swellendam and Hermanus to name a few. Additional highlights included a trip over the Breede River on a unique hand drawn point, a visit to the world famous Cango Caves, walking with lions at Mosselbay and a zipline tour with Cape Canopy Tours in The Hottentots Holland Mountains. Special three and four star guest houses and superb local cuisine, the friendly local people and superb outdoors made this a tour to remember and one we’ve added to our tour offerings.
A special thanks to Matt for being such a great sport and after initially requesting only tar and good gravel routes had me modifying the route daily to including more adventurous tracks like Swartberg pass and even the tricky Gysmanshoek old wagon route. I need little encouragement to deviate and show off some off secret routes.
Well let the pics give you some idea of the awesome trip.
Look carefully that Hopper dude’s a very attractive man
