KAOKOLAND ODYSSEY TOUR – MAY 2024

Kaokoland and Damaraland – North West Namibia . Truly Africa’s ‘last unspoiled paradise

Some guys can’t seem to get enough. Jon and Alan did the tour with Wildwood in May last year and had such a blast they invited two good mates to join them on a private tour this May.

It was awesome to see the two inexperienced off-roaders almost instantly get the hang of the tough desert terrain. After eleven days riding sandy two-track, rocky mountain goat tracks and never ending dry river beds I reckon the lads are good for Dakar ’25. (maybe ’26)

We started and ended the tour in the gorgeous German town of Swakopmund on the Skeleton Coast, before heading inland to the Spitzkoppe rock formations. The two new lads were thrown into the deep end and we held nothing back, including the treacherous  van Zyl’s Pass decent into the Marienfluss Plains.

After a mammoth day of riding, including the majestic Puros Canyons and Hoanib River Trail, the Ongongo Springs / Warmquelle Pools are the ultimate place to wallow with a cold beer and chat about the day. Chat about the abundance of wild game in the Hoanib including desert elephants, giraffe, oryx and more.

Orupembe Shop no.1 – Well the only shop and it has very little besides warm beer and tins of baked beans.

A new camp for 2024, Erongo Rocks Camp Site. Our first time and for sure a regular on our future tours. What stunning camping sites with unique bath rooms and cooking areas hidden amongst the giant boulders.
