WILDWOOD CAPE PENINSULA

(100% Tar) To appreciate the beauty of Cape Town, taking a road trip around the Peninsula is a must. Doing this on two wheels simply cannot be matched, as we head along the winding coastal road, with the wild ocean to our left, and the fynbos rich mountainside to the right.

The Route: The road takes us south, past the seaside suburb of Muizenberg, taking a turn up to Boyes Drive where you will see the spectacular views across False Bay and the Hottentots Holland mountains beyond. Our trip continues along the coast, via Simon’s Town where we will stop for refreshments before making our way to Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, for a not-to-be-missed walk amongst the 3000 African penguins that have made this cove their home. After which, we make our way to Cape Point, the southernmost point of the Table Mountain National Park, where a funicular ride will take you up the steep slope to see the old lighthouse and to enjoy the panoramic views.

On leaving Cape Point, the road winds past the villages of Scarborough, Misty Cliffs and Kommetjie, popular with both surfers and daredevil kite surfers. Our next stop is the hamlet of Noordhoek, where we will stop for a late lunch. Next up is Hout Bay, via Chapmans Peak Drive with its sheer drops to the ocean below and rugged cliff faces above making this a most memorable piece of road. Our last stretch is along the sweeping bends that take us past Llandudno towards the chic seaside suburb of Camps Bay, before turning up a steep drive that winds it’s way up towards Lion’s Head and Signal Hill, where we will capture our last views of the city bowl and Robben Island beyond.
