The Baviaanskloof Wild Ride starts and finishes 400km from Cape Town in the quaint Karoo village of Prince Albert.
The journey takes us over the Swartberg Pass, the number one gravel mountain pass in South Africa.
We enter the Baviaanskloof via the rugged Kareedouw Side Entry route, a remote mountain route into the heart of the Kloof.
Friday night is spent in a converted cave and then Saturday we ride rolling mountain roads and river crossings for which the Baviaanskloof is famed.
Our journey exits the Kloof via the lesser known Antonies Pass, over the Groot River to a guest farm outside Steytlerville.
Sunday we take a scenic gravel route back to Prince Albert, a respite from the tougher rough tracks and altitude variations of the previous days.
This tour is suitable for all experienced adventure riders but can can get a little tricky when it rains heavily during the summer months.
The tour is priced at ZAR3500 excluding a rental motorcycle and ZAR 8000 including a rental KTM 690 Enduro R.
The package includes three nights bed and breakfast with dinners included on two nights.
