WILDWOOD: Places we love – Epupa Falls

Epupa Falls – A spectacular group of falls on the Cunene River in the Kaokoland, North West Namibia.

The west flowing river border between Namibia and Angola flows 12 months of the year and the falls never fail to amaze. From our regular lodgings at the Gondwana @Omarungalodge its an easy five minute walk to the top of the falls for a front row view of the 40 meter drop into the gorge below.

There is no quick route to Epupa village though. Take the 165km (6 hours) Cunene River Trail that follows the river from Ruacana if you’re up for a 4×4 challenge or the easy 200km (3 hours) gravel road from Opuwo.
