Wild Coast / Lesotho / Southern Drakensberg Wild Ride – April 2026

Every April Wildwood heads to the east coast of South Africa for the Wild Coast / Lesotho  / Southern Drakensberg Wild Ride Tour and this year was an epic ride.

10 days / 3 distinct regions / 2 countries.

For 2026 we started the route in the beautiful Transkei / Wild Coast village of Morgan Bay and headed inland to the high roads of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains. South Africa’s highest gravel mountain roads and inviting country lodges make for idyllic motorcycle travel.

The second leg of the journey crossed into the ‘Mountain Kingdom of lesotho’ with both gravel and tar tracks in the  remote Maltuti mountains rising to as high as 3400 meters . Breath taking scenery , epic tracks and special Lesotho hospitality. Lesotho is a largely undeveloped land locked independent country within the boundaries of South Africa. Its local Basotho population are warm and accommodating and the country is a super safe and remote destination. Three full days riding the remote mountains before we descended the famous Sani Pass back into South Africa for the final leg of the tour along the Transkei Wild Coast.

The Wild Coast lived up to its name in every way. Rugged coastal cliffs, endless river crossings and remote grassy /rocky tracks and cattle paths as we headed south back to Morgan Bay.

This tour is strictly for experienced riders and includes some tough rocky climbs and deep river crossings.  All your gear is carried in the support vehicle and we recommend our rental 500cc Dual-sport motorcycles for the tour.

This tour starts and ends in Morgan Bay. Daily flights to East London Airport from Cape Town and Johannesburg  and we shuttle our guests to and from Morgan Bay.

Next Wild Coast / Lesotho / Drakensberg Wild Ride is April 2027

The pics tell the story.
